"My Battle with Tennis"

Tennis is a truly frustrating sport,
I've seen people break down into tears on the court.
The smashing of rackets on fences is a common sight.
I have to admit the same has happened to me, although I try to be polite.

My worst outbreak came against Garfield,
after my opponent's cheating ways were revealed.
His horrible calls made me mad.
I started to scream, it was pretty bad.

I know my technique isn't the best,
But I hate cheaters and that I express.
Playing one-on-one can be kinda rough,
After two full sets you've had enough.

Not all players are that bad,
Many are fun and for this I am glad.

I'm glad to have played tennis all throughout high school.
Some matches were amazing and my teammates were cool!

  2. I'm so happy to have stumbled upon this poem of yours! I'm glad you understand all the frustration I have for this sport sometimes and why I can't stand when people cheat in anything. But it is a very rewarding sport and I applaud you for sticking with it :)

  4. I enjoyed this poem because I could picture perfectly in my head you getting angry with your unfair opponents! There's very few things I dislike as much as a bad call in any sport, so I definitely understand your frustration. I'm glad that you enjoyed your tennis career at New Milford High School overall, though...great poem! :)
